Lightning sparks Phoenix house fire

PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) – Lightning sparked a house fire in a neighborhood southwest of 91st Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road, the Tolleson and Phoenix fire departments confirmed Wednesday morning.

It happened just after 5 a.m. The initial report was flames coming from inside a vent.

When firefighters arrived on the scene, nothing was visible on the outside of the two-story home. When crews went inside, they found light smoke on the second floor and discovered a small fire in the attic, which they quickly extinguished, the Phoenix Fire Department said.

The family had evacuated before firefighters got there, and no injuries were reported.

Editor's note: This story has been updated to reflect that the house fire was in Phoenix, not Tolleson.
