3 ON YOUR SIDE (3TV) - Sky Harbor Airport is pretty busy not only inside, but outside as well.
As a result, many people choose to be transported to the airport using a taxi or a shuttle service.
That's exactly what Rhonda Blair did when she ordered a shuttle for her son back in August. “They were more than happy to pick him up,” Blair told 3 On Your Side. “If he needed to stop at the convenience store, they would do that for him."
Blair lives in Florida, but she called a Valley company called Arizona Southwest Shuttle, where she spoke to a representative to book her son's ride. "I gave him all the information, and I said, ‘What is the charge?’ And he replied, '$75,' and I said, 'OK.' And I gave him my debit card number,” Blair told us.
But instead of a $75 charge, Arizona Southwest Shuttle charged $1,175.
Her bank statement clearly shows the money came out of her account. However, Blair says she can't get the shuttle company to return her $1,100, and she’s been trying since August. "I'm just stuck because there is no other place to turn to get it back. That's a lot of money,” she said.
3 On Your Side looked into Arizona Southwest Shuttle last year when the company made a similar overcharge to Roger and Lois Ludwick. The Canadian couple was supposed to be billed $36 but were charged $360 instead and couldn't get the shuttle company to refund the overcharge.
But once 3 On Your Side got involved, the company returned the money. “We're very happy, thank you. Thank you very much,” Roger said at the time.
Back to Blair's issue. 3 On Your Side contacted Arizona Southwest Shuttle and asked them about her overcharge. The company apologized, saying it was unaware her refund was not processed. The company said they thought a refund went through months ago.
After our involvement, Arizona Southwest Shuttle issued Rhonda a cashier's check for $1,100. “I can't tell you how much I appreciate your help,” an emotional Blair told 3 On Your Side’s Gary Harper. “I never would have gotten this money had it not been for you and you intervening.
"I never would have gotten a cent,” she added. “It would have been a very small Christmas. But now, maybe we'll have a better one."
