June was a good month for our 3 On Your Side viewers, as Gary Harper helped a number of them resolve their issues.

PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) - Eli Ortega says he’s pretty happy these days. "Yeah, I'm really happy with 3 On Your Side," he said. But that wasn't the case when 3 On Your Side first introduced you to him.

Phoenix man duped in food delivery scam

In a previous report, Eli explained how he replied to a text message from what he though was Door Dash, a food delivery service company that he works for. And the message asked him to log into his Door Dash account. "I needed to submit my 6-digit PIN so I could unlock my account and get into my account,” Eli said. "And of course, you thought it was from DoorDash?" 3 On Your Side’s Gary Harper asked. "Yeah, I really didn't think that much of it," he replied. But the message was from a scammer who used the information Eli provided to steal all of his earnings from his Door Dash account... about $700.

So, 3 On Your Side got involved and we asked Door Dash to investigate. They did and were generous enough to return $700 back to Eli's account, something they didn't have to do but did anyway. “You guys are about what you say you are and 3 really is on your side,” Eli said. “It's pretty cool.”

And then there's a viewer named Sally Altenburger. "I thank you, I thank you, I thank you," she said. Sally cancelled her service with DirecTV back in 2019. But this senior citizen apparently forgot to stop her $60 payments that were automatically forwarded month after month to DirecTV. By the time Sally realized the mistake, she already paid DirecTV nearly $900 in total overpayments.

So, 3 On Your Side got involved and we asked DirecTV to look into the overpayment. They did and returned all $900 back to Sally. "It’s a miracle. A miracle. I mean you are fantastic. I don't know how you do it or who you know,” Sally said laughing.

And we can't forget Michael Johnson and his wife who say they have a problem that is worth more than just money. "I'm labeled as deceased in the Medicare system," Michael told 3 On Your Side. That's because a California hospital accidentally confused Michael Johnson's identity with another guy named Michael John who eventually passed away. "They mistakenly used his name, his birthdate and put it onto my medical, my Medicare information at the hospital. “So that my Medicare and my insurance, kind of took over his costs."

3 On Your Side got involved and we asked the hospital, as well as Medicare to investigate. Once they discovered the mix up, they quickly resolved the issue by giving Michael his identity back. And Michael says that's worth more than any amount of money.
