(3TV/CBS 5) − Honey is commonly used to soothe a sore throat when we have a cold, but one Valley business is hoping their honey helps you from getting a cold or flu in the first place.

Simply Raw Honey has different honey flavors like turmeric or elderberry, which they say can help boost our immune system.

"Honey has great benefits for anything from anti-fungal to anti-septic but what we're looking at now as we come into flu season is adding elderberry into our honey because its not just going to fight against our flu it's going to prevent the flu from actually happening," said TJ Schuyleman, owner of Simply Raw Honey.

Elderberry is a well-known immune booster and turmeric is growing in popularity as a powerful anti-inflammatory spice.

Schuyleman recommends one teaspoon of honey in the morning and another at night to get the best benefit from these infused honey.

Simply Raw Honey is located in Youngtown but host varies stands and can be found at farmers' markets around the Valley.
