GILBERT, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) - Going out of town during the holiday season? Worried about leaving all your presents inside while you're gone for a few days?

A handful of Valley police departments offer programs to watch your home while you're on vacation.

In Chandler, officers will do extra patrols around your home if you let them know ahead of time, giving you peace of mind while you're gone. You need to fill out a request at least a week before you leave.

Gilbert has a similar program. You just have to fill out the online form a week before you head out of town!

If you're a Scottsdale resident, you can also have your house watched if you fill out an online form. The form asks questions like how cars will be parked in the driveway while you're gone and if people will be working on the home (landscapers, pool, construction) while you're gone. In Scottsdale, you have to complete the form at least 48 to 72 hours in advanced.

Peoria also offers a vacation watch program for residents. Volunteers will periodically stop and check on your home while you're away. They'll walk around and see if anything looks out of place. Again, you have to submit a request beforehand.
