GILBERT (3TV/CBS 5) – The Town of Gilbert has announced changes to their recycling program, including removing glass and certain plastics from their recycling list.
Gilbert will be implementing the new changes and says their goal is to reach full community participation by September. Town officials say the new changes are to align with stricter industry contamination standards and shrinking demand for certain materials.
The full list of accepted recycled materials is:
- Cardboard: Broken down with all packing materials removed. No soiled/greasy items.
- Metal: Aluminum, steel and tin food and beverage cans only.
- Paper: Except soiled, shredded, metallic, waxed or tissue.
- Plastic: Bottles, jugs and jars only
