PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) – A Phoenix firefighter was injured while battling an apartment fire early Saturday morning. Crews were called to the area of Central Avenue and Baseline Road shortly before 5 a.m.

Crews arrived to find flames from one unit to nearby apartments. Residents escaped unharmed as the fire engine rolled up, the Phoenix Fire Department said.

While firefighters quickly knocked down the fire, four apartments were damaged. It’s not clear how many people are displaced.

One firefighter burned his hands and was taken to the hospital, according to Capt. Rob McDade. No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

As crews were battling this fire, another team was dealing with a mobile home fire about 20 minutes north.
