NEAR MESA (3TV/CBS 5) – Massive flames were pouring from the garage of a home on the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community early Monday afternoon, and Arizona’s Family reporter Jason Barry was there.
Barry was in the field working on another story when he saw the inferno in the area of Loop 202 Red Mountain and Gilbert Road near the Mesa border.

Black smoke was pouring off the house.
Salt River Fire Marshall Dustin Zamboni said there were four adults and an 8-year-old child in the house when the blaze started.
One of the family members smelled smoke and told everyone to get out of the house, said Zamboni.
"According to family members, they were sleeping and got woken up by the smell of smoke," said Zamboni. "They knew it was coming from garage. They didn't look for anything, then just called fire for help."

Zamboni said it is still unclear how the fire started.
The American Red Cross was called to the scene to help the family get food and clothing and a place to live.
The house was a total loss.
"They're going to need a safe place to stay," said Marcia Service with the Red Cross. "It's pretty unimaginable, just the list of things these people have to do recover from something like this."
