PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) - It's obviously not the same atmosphere as a home playoff game at Phoenix Suns Arena would be. But plenty of Suns fans still made the trip downtown for a chance at watching their team advance in the playoffs for the first time in 11 years.
Heading into Game 6 up three games to two, Suns fans are confident about turning those "Beat LA" chants from present tense to past tense. "We're going to get it tonight. We're going to win," Phoenix native Adriel Pineda said.
"What are you expecting in downtown Phoenix if the Suns get a win tonight?" I asked. "I don't like that question because it should be when the Suns get a win," Scottsdale's Ajay Bezawada said.
So it's no surprise that many of these Suns fans are already looking ahead to what's next. Like so many other long-time Suns fans, Phoenix native Veronica Quiroz has seen it all: the good, the bad, and the ugly. "It means a whole lot," Quiroz said. "We haven't seen this in the longest time."
For the last four years, no matter where she's been, Quiroz's Suns cowboy hat and foam finger have been along for the ride. They've been a good luck charm for her. "Even at home, I sit on my living room couch with my hat and my finger," Quiroz said.
Does the hat get washed? "I actually haven't washed it," Quiroz said. "I don't want to wash it because if I do, it won't be my lucky hat anymore."
Sticking with that theme of cleanliness, Quiroz's already got plans for the hat if the Suns beat the Lakers. "Celebratory shots from the hat," Quiroz said. "What kind of shots?" I responded. "Fireball, of course," answered Quiroz. "Because we're on fire!"
