PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) - The Phoenix family who found the 90-pound beagle named Wolfgang has found another dog who weighs even more!
The McManis family took in Jameson who weighed 100 pounds, beating the foster brother Wolfgang by 10 pounds. Before they fostered Jameson, his owner surrendered him at the Arizona Humane Society and he got picked up by the Arizona Beagle Rescue.
“It’s really sad that a beagle who’s typical weight is 25, maybe 30 pounds could weigh in at a hundred pounds,” said Erin McManis.
And just his luck, he came to the right family.
“Wolfgang was our third obese dog that we’ve helped and now we’re going to try to do the same thing with Jameson,” said McManis.
And a new brother who knows what it takes to trim that extra weight. Wolfgang is down to 58 pounds.
“He’s super active now. He regularly walks a mile several times a week and he does water treadill exercises with a local veterinarian,” said McManis.
That’s where they’re teaching an old dog new tricks.
“He’s going to be eating lean turkey meat and green veggies for the foreseeable future,” said McManis.
Working like a dog will take on a whole new meaning.
“You can’t make a dog go on a walk if they’re absolutely refusing but they’ve all been great and wanted to lose the weight. It seems so that helps,” said McManis.
