PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) - A 3-year-old girl was rushed to the hospital after nearly drowning in a pool in southeast Phoenix on Saturday afternoon. It happened at an apartment complex near 50th Street and Frye Road. Firefighters said family members pulled the girl from the water and started CPR. When fire crews got there, the girl was awake but lethargic. First responders then took her to a nearby pediatric emergency room.
The fire department said it didn't know her condition. It's unclear how long the girl was in the pool or how many adults were there. An investigation is underway.
Fire officials say there was no fence around the pool.
This is the second major drowning call for first responders in the Phoenix area on Saturday. Earlier in the morning in Buckeye, three kids were rushed to the hospital after they were found in a backyard pool. All of the victims were under the age of 5.
