Phoenix, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) - This week's sunshine and warmer weather combined with last week's rain has weeds popping up quickly all over the Valley.

According to a City of Phoenix ordinance, weeds cannot be taller than 6 inches.

Tamra Ingersoll, a spokeswoman for the City of Phoenix, said there hasn't recently been an overwhelming number of calls complaining of out-of-control weeds but is anticipating it to pick up because of the weather.

One Ahwatukee homeowner has seen her weeds double in size since last week. She and her husband haven't had time to pull them.

They ended up hiring Todd Pope, co-owner of Madjak Pest, Weed, and Turf Service said the "rain has been a blessing for business."

"Busy, it's thriving at this time because of the rain we had last week," said Pope. "Because we have dormant weed seeds in the soil and now that the beautiful Mother Nature sun is out, they are just popping."

Pope uses a commercial grade weed-killing spray.

He said it can take about two weeks for the product to dry them out and easily rake them up.

To report any violations in the City of Phoenix, the number to call is 602-534-4444.
