PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) -- Over one million cases of COVID-19 have now been reported in Arizona. 

Arizona has seen over 3,000 new cases daily for the past few days. As of Friday morning, there were over 3,700 new cases reported and 63 deaths. Maricopa County holds the highest number of cases, with 633,745 confirmed. 

This past week, Banner Health and Valleywise Health each held press conferences regarding the growing number of unvaccinated patients at the hospitals. Both reported 93% of patients that were hospitalized with COVID-19 were unvaccinated and ventilator usage for COVID patients increased by 50%.

According to the COVID-19 dashboard, 55.6% of Arizona's population are vaccinated and over seven million doses of the vaccine have been administered. Many health care experts are urging Arizonans to get the vaccine if they are able to do so. Click here to find a vaccine location near you.

Friday's news of over one million cases comes as Dr. Christ departs and a new interim AZDHS director starts tomorrow.
