MESA, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) -- If you've been experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 and want to get tested, a Mesa doctor's office says they're ready to test new patients.

"We didn't know we were such an outlier with having these tests until recently. We anticipated this need was coming so we ordered the tests early," said Sonny Hastings, business manager with Maready Medical.

First, Hastings says a new patient would have to schedule a virtual visit. If a doctor feels a patient has COVID-19 symptoms, then they can get tested without leaving the car.

"They would pull into the office to a designated spot and the provider would come to their car to collect a sample," Hastings said.

The sample would then get sent to Sonora Quest Laboratories for official analysis.

"What our hope is, that we can give patients the information they need to know if they truly are contagious, if they have this disease because that's what is going to give us the ability to get a handle on it," Hastings said.

Hastings says the Mesa office is prepared to handle an influx of new patients during this time.

"We've doubled the number of patients our providers are seeing next week, which means we have a lot of openings in order to do this," he said.

Officials with Arizona Department of Health Services say if someone has mild symptoms, they should stay at home, drinks lots of fluids and rest.

Maready Medical is located near Power and Warner Road in Mesa. You can call the office to schedule an appointment or you can book online. Click here for more information.
