Signs are still around weeks after the election.

PHOENIX (CBS 5) - The election is over. Well, except for the mayoral runoff election in Phoenix.

But why are so many of the signs still up and tied to fences or lying around? I mean, let’s be real here. You have a better chance of seeing an old outdated political sign than you would be seeing a toilet waiting at a bus stop. Oh, wait.

If you were part of a campaign you know that 15 days after the election is over you have a job to do, do your job.

However, if you look around Phoenix, some people have just gotten downright lazy. Many people are simply waiting for the City of Phoenix to do what they should be doing but the truth is, the City’s hands are tied, based on a 2016 U.S. Supreme Court ruling, that basically says as long as there is a runoff election they are forbidden to remove any signs.

So, the cleanup falls on the hands of the political parties or political campaigns to clean up their mess.
