CHANDLER, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) – One of Arizona’s most prominent companies is looking to fill more than 1,000 full-time and part-time positions. Bashas’ – a family-owned grocery store since the early 1930s – is hosting a hiring fair today until 4 p.m. The company also operates Food City and AJ’s Fine Foods.
Available jobs range from entry-level hourly clerks to store managers. The company says it has a particular need for skilled bakers and meat cutters.
“Bashas’ Family of Stores offers flexible hours; great benefits; a grocery discount; competitive pay; and professional development, growth, and advancement opportunities to its members (employees),” according to the event announcement. “The company is one of the largest employers in the state and one of the Best Places to Work in Arizona.”
The Bashas' hiring event comes on the heels of Gov. Doug Ducey's announcement that the $300 federal payments unemployed Arizonans have been getting will end on July 10. Instead, the state will offer one-time bonuses to people getting back into the Arizona's workforce.
“It really is a wonderful place to work,” said company spokeswoman Ashley Shick, who has been with Bashas for five years. “Family and taking care of the community are absolutely at the core of the company.”
