Bear Fire

The Bear Fire, burning in eastern Arizona near Hannagan Meadow, has burned 11,000 acres as of Thursday.

CLIFTON, AZ (3TV/CBS5) - The Bear Fire, which was sparked by lightning, started June 16. As of Thursday afternoon, it had burned 11,000 acres in far eastern Arizona, about 13 miles south of Hannagan Meadow. It is 0% contained.

Fire officials say the flames continue to spread under hot, dry conditions.

The fire has closed US 191 in both directions south of Alpine between mileposts 175 and 250, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. The closure will be in effect until further notice. Smoke from the Bear Fire may impact Highway 191 and the Blue River.
