KIRKLAND, AZ (3TV/CBS 5/AP) – A Kirkland mail carrier was arrested for stealing a gift card from the mail.

The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday that 56-year-old Lavada Pierce is facing charges of theft, fraudulent credit charge use, credit card theft and fraud.

She has since been released. It wasn't immediately known if she had an attorney.

Deputies say a Kirkland woman reported last month that a $25 Walmart gift card never showed up.

Walmart determined it had been used at a Prescott location.

Investigators obtained a photo from the transaction and the victim identified the suspect as Pierce.

Authorities say Pierce admitted using the card because she thought it was a thank-you gift for the post office.

The U.S. Postal Service is investigating Pierce for other thefts.

Being retired PO , she has committed a Federal offence. She will lose her job and benefits.. Shame on her. I worked closely with the Inspection Service when it came to customer complaints and inquiries. They take complaints all the way to the finish line when theft is concerned..

I'm thinking this issue might be more widespread than we know. Easy pickins for the mail carriers.

Wouldn't that be mail tampering and isn't that a Federal offense?

She learned from the best her brother ex-az mvd administrator Russell pierce , this guy being in law inforcement an got caught tempering with a friends of his mvd records , go figure what else this pos has done . Bed buddy’s with asspaio too .

Don’t send us trash to Mexico ,, yes built the wall we don’t want you here in rocky point or anywhere in Mexico .

Build the wall ... oh wait.

Typical media doesn't tell you the full story. She was a contract substitute carrier. This is extremely rare and wouldn't happen with a full time postal worker.

TRUMP supporter

It happens all the time in the sorting room. Stand up on the catwalk above the sorters and watch how many envelopes get stuffed in their shirts.

JoeMosely "wouldn't happen with a full time postal worker" If you really believe that I have a piece of beautiful oceanfront property to sell you just south of Phoenix. She just happened to be substitute but full time postal workers have done worse in the past and will again.

....ummmm LOL I hope this was a sarcastic remark LOLOL

she lost her job because she is a thief and a liar

So she lost her job and facing jail time for $25.00. Of course this is most likely not all she has stolen from the mail.
