QUEEN CREEK, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) - An airman surprised his little sister at her Queen Creek Middle School Tuesday after being away on deployment for 18-months.
Drew Hall is an Airman First Class and has been serving in Alaska. His sister, Emberlynn Hall, had no idea he was coming home. Arizona’s Family cameras were rolling when he walked into her classroom with a bouquet of flowers.
Emberlynn burst into tears, embracing her big brother in a big hug. “Oh my God, that’s my brother! It was just…shock,” Emberlynn told Arizona’s Family. “Finally, being able to come back to somebody that you’re family with is so special.”
There was a round of applause from Ember's 8th-grade classmates, who also had no idea this surprise was going to happen. Ember and Drew said they've always been very close, and because Drew is quite a bit older than his little sister, it's been hard on her to have him gone for so long because she's always looked up to him.
“I almost teared up myself. Tried to hold back the tears and be professional, but it was a good time,” said Drew. “I haven’t seen her in 18-months, and now she’s like 5’10 or something. She’s super tall!” Drew will be home for three weeks before going back to serve for another year and a half in Alaska.
