In all, 1,100 businesses pitched their products during the Open Call event. Five Arizona businesses received offers, including Scottsdale-based Starday Foods.
The city of Phoenix has taken an unprecedented step to try to stop the attrition plaguing the police department which has hundreds of positions it can’t fill.
According to a release from the department, the training is called Basic Community Emergency Response Team or CERT. There will be hands-on and classroom instruction that covers some search and rescue as well.
