WGNO Man Robs WWII Vet

Police are looking for this man who is accused of robbing a 92-year-old WWII veteran at gunpoint inside a retirement home.

SLIDELL, Louisiana (Meredith) – Police are looking for a man who robbed a 92-year-old World War II veteran at gunpoint inside a retirement community.

Police told WGNO the armed robbery happened Thursday evening at the Lafitte’s Landing retirement community.

Police said the suspect made his way into the building, knocked on the WWII veteran’s door, pulled out a gun and forced his way inside the room.

The suspect stole cash, medication and the keys to the victim’s car.

The suspect was captured on surveillance video at a neighboring business.

Police are now trying to identify the suspect and are asking for tips from the community.

This is yet another reason residents of retirement homes should keep their cash in the home's safe. My mother did not "trust" anyone who worked at the home until someone walked into her room and stole money out of her purse. After than my brother and I convinced her to keep her money safe and refreshed it a couple times a month.
