5 ways to have fun while things heat up around the Phoenix area

PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) -- Temperatures are rising around the Valley this weekend. With excessive heat warnings picking up, it's becoming the best excuse to find ways to keep busy and keep cool. Check out a variety of events from sports to events involving water. 

1. Arizona Diamondbacks Pride Night

Celebrate Pride at the Arizona Diamondbacks game on Friday and for a good cause because a portion of the tickets will be donated to the Phoenix Pride and One Community.

When: Friday at 6:40 p.m.

Where: Chase Field at 401 E Jefferson Street in Phoenix

Cost: Pride Night special event ticket pack includes a lower-level ticket, Diamondbacks Pride cap for $30.

2. National Get Outdoors Day

Celebrate National Get Outdoors Day at the “Salt River Pirates” event at Salt River Tubing. If you wear your best pirate outfit, you may get free tubing passes. Face masks will also be required.

When: Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Where: Salt River Tubing at 9200 North Brush Highway in Mesa

Cost: $19 for the tube rental

3. Scottsdale Bike & Seek Scavenger Hunt

Enjoy a nice bike ride and scavenger hunt in the heart of Scottsdale. If you participate, you will be solving riddles and brain teasers and learn more about the history or Old Town Scottsdale.

When: Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Where: Marshall Way Bridge at 7124 E Stetson Drive in Scottsdale

Cost: $15

4. Sonoran Sippin’

Enjoy some drinks and the Desert Botanical Garden at this fun event. This event happens once a month on a Friday. There will also be music playing by local DJs and musicians.

When: Friday from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Where: Desert Botanical Garden at 1201 N Galvin Parkway in Phoenix

Cost: General public: $14.95 for adults and $9.95 for children. For members: $10.95 for adults and $7.95 for children.

5. Father's Day beer tasting

Let the dad in your life enjoy a beer tasting at Tempe Marketplace all month long. Guests can get a Beer Passport at three locations around the marketplace. If you earn two stamps on the passport, you can get a $5 gift card for Bar Louie or Twin Peaks that can be redeemed at the security office. Additional gift cards can be won, as well. 

When: Now until June 22 starting at 10 a.m.
