GILBERT, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) -- The southeast Valley will be getting a taste of Louisiana when Walk-On's Sports Bistreaux opens its doors in January. The Baton Rouge-based eatery broke ground on Oct. 7 at its new Arizona home in the Gilbert Gateway Towne Center.
The restaurant focuses on catering a fun, energetic atmosphere and serving patrons scratch-made Louisiana-inspired cuisine. Guests can also expect 48 beers on tap, and 75 TVs for Cardinals, Coyotes, Diamondbacks, Suns, and Sun Devil games.
The dishes at Walk-On's are made from scratch, using fresh ingredients to bring Louisiana cuisine to life. The menu will feature some unique twists on game-day staples and upscale takes on Louisiana dishes, such as crawfish etouffee, duck and andouille gumbo, and Krispy Kreme donut bread pudding. “We are so excited to be able to bring Walk-On’s to the City of Gilbert and the state of Arizona,” franchisee Ken Weaver said. “We are honored to be a part of this great community and to introduce the taste of Louisiana with a game-day atmosphere to this fast-growing city! We look forward to meeting everyone at the ceremony, as well as building our roster of all-star team members.”
To gear up for its opening, Walk-On's will begin hiring more than 200 people to join its restaurant roster in the weeks ahead. While an exact opening date hasn't been determined yet, the restaurant expects to debut sometime in January 2022.
