“The Mismatch Bandit earned his name due to the various clothing he’s worn throughout the robberies and because there appears to be no pattern to the businesses that he chooses to rob,” according to an FBI news release.

The surveillance video released Thursday is from a Sept. 26 robbery at a Metro PCS store.

The video is quite clear and shows the suspect walk up to the desk. He is wearing a blue hoodie with a large logo on the front, dark baggie sweatpants and a bandana covering the lower half of his face. He kept his left hand under his sweatshirt as if he were holding a weapon.

After pulling up his hood, he calmly takes a stack of cash from the clerk and then leaves the store.

Investigators say that’s his usual attire and MO.

“During the robberies, the suspect enters the business and goes to the counter. He demands money from the register while either lifting his sweatshirt to display a gun in his waistband or he holds his hand under his sweatshirt simulating a weapon,” according to the FBI Phoenix Field Office. “Once an employee gives him the money, he puts it into his pocket and leaves on foot."

In early October, the FBI’s Violent Crimes Task Force and the Phoenix Police Department enlisted the public’s help finding and identifying the suspect. At the time, he was the prime suspect in 14 robberies. Investigators have since added four more to the list.
