PHOENIX (Surprise Squad) -- Changing your lifestyle for the better and eating healthier is not easy. And it's certainly not cheap. That's why one Valley woman reached out to the Surprise Squad for a little help with her dad, Robby. He's been trying to improve his diet, and she wanted to show him some love and support. So, 3TV's Heather Moore and the Surprise Squad knocked on his Phoenix door earlier this month.

"Surprise! Hi, I'm Heather Moore from the Arizona's Family Surprise Squad. Robby, your daughter Ashley nominated you for a surprise. May we come in?"
Robby told Moore about growing up on a farm in Indiana. "I started working at 14 outside the home," he said. "Why?" Moore asked. "For me, money, to help with the family," Robby explained. "I still work a lot. I work sometimes seven days a week if needed. I have side jobs, a full-time job, I've had at least two jobs most of my life. I'm fighting right now. I was diagnosed as having plantar fasciitis in my feet."
"He limps every day because of his plantar," Ashley told us. "I wish that he could have some days off, to rest his feet," added Robby's wife, Nina. "The pain's unreal," Robby continued. "But you just keep going."
"So, what's it like to work on your feet with plantar fasciitis?" Moore asked. He described it in a way most people can identify with. "If you can maybe consider like having a toothache on the bottom of your foot, that's about what it is. I used to be on 10, 11 pills a day back in Indiana. I'm down to none."
He said his doctor recently put him on a diet. "He called it the 'Four Nos,'" Robby explained. "No sugar, no white bread, no potatoes, and no exercise. And in six months I dropped 50 pounds. We all know that to eat healthy, it is more expensive. The sugar and junk food is just cheap. It's a problem we have in society."
"Why is eating healthy important to your family?" Moore wanted to know. "We have health problems in the family," Ashley answered. "Diabetes and hypoglycemia and cancer. It's expensive to eat healthy. Seeing Daddy eat healthy, as he's the breadwinner, is most important."
"We have a surprise for you," Moore informed Robby as she handed him an envelope. "On behalf of Arizona's Family Surprise Squad, we wanted to give you this to help out. Let's open it up."
"This is all new to me," Robby said. "Nothing like this has ever happened before. Holy cow." He just found he and his family got $1,000 in meal delivery kits from Blue Apron, which delivers healthful meals every week. Robby chuckled with joy. "This helps out for a whole year, probably."
"We wanted to do something because you work so hard for your family and you're trying to do the right thing," Moore told him. "You're trying to be healthy and take care of yourself and your family at the same time. So, we wanted to help out a little bit, as well."

"I appreciate it very much," Robby smiled. "We have one more surprise for you," Moore continued. "So, it's not over yet." Robby opened a second envelope and read the note inside. "Holy cow," he said with a whisper. This note said he was getting $2,000 from Valley Toyota Dealers and the Arizona's Family Surprise Squad.
"I know that you guys have a lot of bills you mentioned, a lot of medical bills," Moore said. "So, that's $2000 to use however you need."
"I love you, baby," Robby said as he gave Ashley a hug. "This is crazy help. This will help. This is gonna help crazy."
"This is God in His favor and blessing," Nina added. "This man deserves it."
