PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) - Ashley Eastin is one dedicated volunteer.
The West Valley mom has been struggling with some serious health problems, but still makes time to help out, every day, at Sheely Farms Elementary School.
"That's just how I was raised," said Eastin. "If someone needs help and you can do it, then help them. It's positive, good Karma all around. I am happy to help."
And the goodwill doesn't stop in the classroom.
Eastin is also PTA president, in charge of raising money and organizing extracurricular activities for students.
Second-grade teacher Christina Humble is amazed by Eastin's drive and dedication, with all she's going through.
"She was struggling with things in her life, yet leaving that all at the door to make sure our kids had the best opportunities possible beyond the classroom," said Humble.
Teachers and staff are so appreciative of what Eastin is doing that they reached out to CBS 5 to Pay It Forward to this school angel putting kids ahead of her own health.
"This past month and a half has been a little crazy in my personal life, but I know when I come to school, it's always positive vibes and good times," said Eastin.
A CBS 5 news crew was there when teachers and faculty walked over to a pre-school classroom to surprise Eastin and give her $500.
"It takes a very special person to do what you are doing for our over 700 amazing treasures every day," said Humble. "Whether it's raising money for field trips or going to movie nights fall festival. A lot of our kids would not have opportunities to do stuff if it wasn't for amazing people like you."
"We are absolutely beyond grateful for everything you do," added Humble. "So on behalf of Channel 5 AZ Family and everyone here at Sheely Farms family, we would like to give you $500 to Pay It Forward."
"I think she spends more time here than some of us do," said Humble.
