GOODYEAR, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) -- We paid it forward in Goodyear to Natalie Reilly, who started a foundation called Nothing But Love Notes. She and her mom started the foundation five years ago, and she has now organized thousands of letters that go to first responders, veterans, and others.
Her friend Colleen described Natalie's selfless personality. "Her humbleness, her kindness for others - I can't even begin to describe how amazing she is. With the money she spends out of her own pocket to write letters to send to New York City or to Texas, she just does things because the power of a pen, a letter and kindness."
As Natalie's mom was fighting cancer, they started writing letters to others to get their minds off the stress and pain of the illness. On their first day, they delivered over 50 letters and realized they were onto something special. With the help of Desert Edge High School TV - we surprised her in the middle of her interview.
We walked up to them and said, "Natalie, sorry to interrupt this Desert Edge TV interview. We have a special gift for you from Colleen here."
Colleen said, "So, I was watching TV and they had a segment on there for Pay It Forward. I wrote them a letter and Paul read the letter about how amazing you are and what you do for first responders or a veteran. Paul selected you and we are paying it forward to you to help collect supplies and say thank you."
Natalie was so touched and said, "I was wondering why all these people are here. My mom used to work at this school, and we started this from a dark place and there is something bigger at work here."
