CAREFREE, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) -- We paid it forward in Carefree to Poppy Peterson and the wonderful staff at Foothills Caring Corps.
"Even during the pandemic, they have been fantastic, of course making sure everyone is safe. It's nice knowing that people take their own time, their own vehicle, their own gas, to help us out has been heartwarming," Stacey Rockman said.
Rockman's family needed help with transportation to get her mother Reva to her medical appointments; that's where Foothills Caring Corp stepped in to help. They are a nonprofit group that helps seniors in the Cave Creek/Carefree area. Because of all they do for the community, the Rockman's wanted to Pay It Forward to them.
"Because we love you guys so much, and we are incredibly thankful for all that you have done - and really for my mom and my sanity. We applied through Arizona's Family Pay It Forward, and we are able to give a $500 gift card to Foothills Caring Corp," Rockman said to the group.
Poppy and the staff manage all the volunteers and medical rides and organize a room called the loan closet. Medical equipment can be expensive; the loan closet lets someone borrow medical equipment when they need it.
"It just warms your heart - every day we come to work, and it's a new adventure all of us come together with love for each other and our neighbors," Poppy said.
"So, we have an added surprise - The Rockman family is going to match it. So wonderful."
How about that? $ 1,000 for an amazing organization. If you would like to nominate someone for our Pay It Forward Award, just fill out a nomination form on our website.
