PEORIA, AZ (3TV/CBS5) -- Heather Humble is blind and has cerebral palsy. But that doesn't stop her from enjoying life, and Linda Dolson is one of the reasons why.

"God has a purpose for everybody in life and I just feel this is what I was told to do," said Dolson. "To help people, people with special needs; the elderly and homeless."

Twice a week, the Valley caregiver goes to Peoria to spend time with Heather, one of many special needs patients Dolson visits. It's a job Dolson has embraced since 1998 and she has no plans to retire anytime soon."You do what you have to do," said Dolson. "You give them a hug, and you get a hug back. It's ingrained in me. Just something I have to do."

But the comfort and kindness doesn't stop there. Dolson somehow finds time to rescue homeless pets and find them homes. She also provides food and shelter for folks living on the street.

Heather's mom is so grateful for what Dolson is doing, she reached out to CBS5 to Pay it Forward to the caring caregiver. "I want to thank her for caring so much, for being there when she doesn't need to, but always wants to help," said Janette Humble.

A CBS 5 news camera was rolling when Humble showed up for the big surprise."You have been a Godsend to me and my daughter and our family. You are wonderful to everybody you meet," said Humble. "You give without wanting anything back."

"I appreciate it more than I can say," said Humble. "Channel 5 and its Pay it Forward program would like to give you a little bit extra, and I want to present you with $500 for all that you do."

"I feel this is my purpose in life," said Dolson. "This is what I was meant to do: take care of others and do what is necessary."
