ANTHEM, AZ (Finding Forever) -- A young man with dreams of being a chef got a special treat with the help of a local restaurant. We headed to Anthem to meet Brian for today's Finding Forever, in which Arizona's Family helps connect foster children with potential parents.
Brian is a happy kid with a good sense of humor. And during our interview, he decided to turn the tables on me. We met up at Dog House Diner in Anthem, where owner CiCi let Brian help with the breakfast rush.
We asked him why he likes to cook, and his answer was simple. "Making people laugh, making them full of joy," he said. Brian believes food is a great way to people's hearts and allows for creativity, too.
When it comes to his forever family, he said he is not too picky. Brian is looking for a family that can provide love and support. "I just want whatever comes my way," he said.
Other than cooking, Brian likes woodworking, songwriting, and anything that allows him to express himself.
I asked him where he sees himself in a decade, and he decided to play reporter and ask me the same thing. I said, hopefully working with Arizona's Family, doing fun stories in the community.
"That's it?!" Brian responded.
After a good laugh, I realized Brian was not dogging me but rather encouraging me. He said perhaps I should aim higher, maybe work toward getting my own show.
That illustrates this young man's positive attitude. He by a mantra that can help us all. "I just like to be calm, collected, and have fun, but be caring at the same time, have good motives," he said.
