Arizona Cocktail weekend is coming back to the valley for its 9th year. The event will have attractions like a Cocktail Carnival, Top Bars, and a bartending competition called Last Slinger Standing. Aside from the live MarchFourth marching band performance, and the acrobats and light shows, there will be more than 30 different, custom-decorated booths where top national liquor brands will each be serving up cocktail samples and innovative new spirits at the Cocktail Carnival. For example, last year Kettle One vodka brought a kilo of caviar and was giving out free samples, Red Bull brought a vintage VW bus that they’d turned into a mobile bar, and Monkey Shoulder Blended Scotch Whisky showed off The Monkey Mixer, a full-sized concrete truck that has been transformed into the World’s Largest Cocktail Shaker, dispensing 2,400 gallons of mixed drinks. Much like the liquor brands at the Cocktail Carnival, Top Bars will feature custom-decorated booths from 30+ of the best bars and lounges from across the globe. They fly staff in to man the colorful booths and serve up their signature cocktails, so it’s like a one-night-only world tour of the best bars right here in Phoenix. The live bartending battle, Last Slinger Sanding, is hosted at 7th & Union, which is a standalone bar located on the grounds of the Young's Market Company. Doors open at 6:30 pm and the competition usually takes a couple of hours and multiple rounds to determine the Last Slinger Standing.
