Approximately 30 people are displaced after a monsoon storm flooded their apartments in Mesa on Friday morning, according to the Red Cross.

Heavy rains began to rush into the apartments near Dobson Road and University Drive around midnight when a monsoon storm rolled into the Valley.

One of the tenants, Lawrence Paget, was just getting home when the flooding entered his apartment.

"We just got home from the grocery store," said Paget. "I was just getting ready to fix my food for me, my wife and my two dogs when the rain when it started raining really hard."

Paget said he couldn't even get out of the front door it was raining so hard.

He said the flooding was coming from his patio and front door and this isn't the first time it has happened.

"I don't know what to do about this," said Paget. "My wife and I are both on disability."

One of Paget's neighbors rushed over as soon as it started raining.

"I don't even get flooded," said his neighbor. "Whenever this guy gets flooded, I always try and help him in one way or another."

The Red Cross is out with the tenants assisting them with places to stay.
