LITCHFIELD PARK, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) -- Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating Thursday morning after an apparent home break-in ended in a shooting near Litchfield Park.

According to MCSO Sgt. Monica Bretado, deputies were called to a shooting at a neighborhood near 127th Avenue and Camelback Road around 4 a.m. When they showed up, they found a woman with gunshot wounds who needed to be rushed to the hospital. She is expected to be okay.

The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office says there may be three suspects involved.

“It’s hard to not be terrified when it’s your backyard,” a neighbor said. She declined to give her name. “You know everybody here has children, so the fact that this is happening in our yards is scary.” She said someone broke into her husband’s car awhile back. They installed security cameras and said it hasn’t happened again.

Investigators say that possibly three suspects were inside the home when the shooting happened. At this time, no description of a suspect or possible suspects has been released.

Note: An earlier version of this story said the incident happened in Litchfield Park. The home is located just outside of city limits in Maricopa County.
