Neighborhood angels win Pay It Forward Award in Chandler

CHANDLER, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) — We decided to Pay It Forward to a wonderful couple in Chandler who go above and beyond for their neighbors, especially during Christmas. “Lynn and Louise live down the street. “They moved here a few years ago and ever since they moved here, we call them our angels. Lynn decorates the entire block and we have 32 houses, and he does another block around the corner,” Joyce Montoya said.

Lynn Aavang starts decorating their street in October, and it brings a lot of joy to the Sunbird Retirement Community. Because of their hard work, the whole street showed up to Pay It Forward to them.

We walked up to present them with our $500 gift card. “All of these people you’ve helped so much, and you’ve done so many things with the beautiful lights. We all appreciate you so much. You are just angels in our neighborhood. Congratulations,” said Montoya. “Thank you - Thank you - I’m about to cry,” Lynn Aavang said.

The lights are so fantastic, Sunbird’s community office had to warn their local airport that it wasn’t a runway. “It started growing bit by bit and for the last five years, it’s been a whole street thing, and each year when we walk, we keep saying we can add something here and add something there. I’m already buying stuff for next year,” Lynn Aavang said.
