SCOTTSDALE, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) -- Food Network star and Valley celebrity chef Beau MacMillan is taking the reins of a new endeavor, bringing Mediterranean and coastal cuisines to the tables of Old Town Scottsdale’s newest hotel.

Senna House, a brand new lavish hotel at 75th Street and Camelback Road, is host of the Clive Collective’s newest restaurant experience: Cala. The Cala experience aims to bring guests a taste of the Mediterranean in an elevated and upscale environment. The light-toned interior aesthetic of Cala will keep the vibe bright and intimate.

Chef MacMillan, who will serve as the Culinary Director of Cala, and his team have crafted a farm-fresh coastal-inspired menu inspired by flavors from Greece, Spain, Italy, Morocco, and the entire Mediterranean coastline! Cala-goers can expect some Mediterranean staples including handmade pasta, fresh cheeses, bread, locally-grown vegetables, and fresh seafood dishes. The menu will have a healthy focus, and utilize seasonal ingredients. Cala will also feature an extensive wine and beer list.

MacMillan is also the Culinary Advisor at the Sanctuary at Camelback Mountain in Paradise Valley. In previous foodie reports, I’ve covered the Sanctuary’s restaurant Elements and Jade Bar. MacMillan has created an absolute culinary powerhouse of a kitchen at Elements with Chef de Cuisine Samantha Sanz, and a solid bar experience helmed by Bar Chef Christiaan Röllich. Familiar with MacMillan’s culinary caliber, I have no doubt Cala will be a top-notch dining experience.

“Cala is a place that guests will find themselves not wanting to leave; it’s vibrant with great energy creating an immersive environment with an experience that offers something for everyone,” said MacMillan. “We’ve intentionally created a modern establishment with a perfectly curated vibe and approachable food that is incredibly cared for alongside unforgettable cocktails.”

MacMillan serves as the Director of Culinary Operations for the Clive Collective, a Scottsdale-based group of hospitality vendors and more. Together they recently opened Money Baby! at the Virgin Hotels in Las Vegas.

During a recent trip to Vegas, I was able to check out Money, Baby! and must say the sports-viewing, interactive games, high quality, and ingenious conceptions behind their food was a highlight of the trip. When it comes to serving up an exemplary culinary experience, the Clive Collective and Beau MacMillan are at the forefront.

“We don’t do anything basic in the concepts we dream up at Clive Collective,” said Mikis Troyan, co-founder and managing partner of Clive Collective. “We are constantly seeking out awe-inspiring opportunities that will truly wow guests, from the environment to the food and drinks, to the service and the entertainment. Cala will be unlike anything else in Scottsdale and we can’t wait to create memorable experiences for our guests.”

Cala will open on January 21 and is currently taking reservations. For more information on Cala, or to book a reservation, click here.
