Austin-based Torchy’s Tacos to open two Phoenix locations in 2022

PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) -- Christmas came early with new restaurant announcements! On top of a new revolving sushi concept opening in Phoenix’s Biltmore area on Wednesday, a fast-casual taco brand out of Austin, Texas, has also announced the launch of locations in Phoenix in 2022.

Torchy’s Tacos, the Texas brand known for its “Damn Good Tacos,” green chili queso, and fresh-made margaritas, has two locations expected to open in Phoenix during the summer of 2022. One restaurant will be at the Camelback Colonnade, near 20th Street and Camelback Road, and the second location will be near Tatum and Shea boulevards.

Torchy’s Tacos was born in Austin in 2006. Founder Mike Rypka developed a scratch-made menu focused on “experimental tacos.” Since then, Torchy’s has expanded to more than 95 locations in Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado, Arkansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Kansas, Indiana, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. Another staple of Torchy’s Tacos is the Taco of the Month, featuring an untraditional taco one wouldn’t expect to find anywhere else.
