Phoenix housekeeper wins Pay It Forward Award

PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) — Arizona’s Family decided to Pay It Forward at Desert Haven Care Center in Phoenix to Maria Mendoza, a housekeeper who helps care for 78 patients. “I nominated Maria Mendoza because from the day I started working here, she has been the sweetest person I have met,” said Linda Dorado, who nominated Mendoza. “She has always got a smile for everyone that comes into the building. She never complains about anything, and you would never know how many children she cares for at home.”

Besides working a full-time job, Mendoza cares for all nine of her grandchildren. Because of her hard work, her co-workers at the care center wanted to Pay It Forward to her.

“We just think you are wonderful, and we wanted to Pay It Forward to you and give you a $500 gift card,” said Mendoza. “Thank you, Maria, for all you do. Let’s hear it for Maria!” said Paul Horton.

Her co-workers thought this $500 Pay It Forward award will be very helpful with the holidays coming up. Mendoza says she is blessed to work with so many special people. “This is so great. I am blessed to work with some wonderful people who take care of me and my family,” Mendoza said.
