PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) - This week we are Paying It Forward to Terry Holmes-Stecyk, who is the founder of Tender Little Hearts, a therapy group that she created with her miniature horses.
Her friend Tracey said, “I was always fascinated with miniature horses, and I had heard about their group on the internet. So, I thought - oh my gosh I need to meet her! And I called her up to asked her to come visit. She said sure, when do you want to come out? I fell in love with the minis and her.”
Terry created her foundation two and a half years ago. She takes her two miniature horses and a donkey to rehab facilities throughout the Valley. The interaction with the horses and the patients has been incredible, and that is why her friend Tracey wanted to pay it forward to her.
We walked up with Tracy and got Terry’s attention. “How are you? We have a little surprise for you. You are a unique individual; you’re the kind of person that wakes up and asks, ‘How can I help someone today?’ It’s like your hard-wired to be caring and compassionate. And on behalf of CBS 5 AZ and Arizona’s Family, because you do so much for our community, we’d like to give you this $500 gift certificate.”
Terry cried and said, “Oh my gosh, can I hug you?”
Tender Little Hearts will continue to heal patients all over the Valley, and Terry says her visits fill her soul with happiness. “It’s humbling,” she said. “I do give a lot but it’s humbling that people recognize it. Usually it’s just the smiles and hugs and the faces we see with our seniors and children we visit. But this means so much; thank you so much.
