PAGE, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) -- Local Love takes a trip to Page, Arizona, ahead of this week’s Field Trip Friday. We visit two locally-owned restaurants in town—one is a classic, and the other is brand new!
Slackers Quality Grub has long been a family-owned and operated restaurant in Page. A longtime staple, owner Chris Shores once worked for the family who owned the restaurant before deciding he wanted to buy the place. A Page native, Shores grew up working in restaurants and on the water as a river guide. Slackers is the place families stop to grab a sandwich before their trip to the lake or a banana split after a day in the sun. On the menu, burgers, pepper steak sandwiches, hot dogs, and even a New York Steak for dinner.

Sunset 89 is a new addition to the Page restaurant scene, brought to you by some familiar faces. Two Page couples and a chef make up the partnership behind this Pacific Rim cuisine. The chef, Dino Meredith, is from Samoa and gives his hometown specialties his own twist at Sunset 89. The restaurant, located on Highway 89, has stunning views of sunsets and canyon walls. The outdoor setting with string lights is stunning at sundown. On the menu, the chef’s favorite: fried Brussel sprouts, chicken katsu, crispy pork belly Lechon kawali, and Korean kalbi short ribs.
