SCOTTSDALE, AZ (Jaime’s Local Love) -- The story of Maui Pasta Company is a bit of a love story -- a story of love, loss, and love again.

The company was started in 2012 on Maui by owners Patricia and Ron Inman. They sold pasta made with authentic Durham semolina flour and infused with fresh Maui herbs from their driveway to raise money for a school trip for their daughter. It was so popular that they started selling at farmer’s markets.

From there, the Inmans branched out to sell pasta, sauces, baked goods, and desserts to local grocery stores and restaurants. By 2015, they opened their own thriving Pasta Shop and Take-Out Restaurant. It was only nine months later that tragedy struck -- Ron Inman took ill. He died within two months.

Patricia kept their dream alive with a wonderful and dedicated staff. She found healing and support within an online grief support community and found a best friend in Stephen Hochhaus. Stephen, who owns Portfolio Picture Framing, Inc. in Old Town Scottsdale, had lost his wife Katherine to cancer in 2011. He understood the challenges of running a business while grieving and immense loss. Patricia and Stephen soon decided to marry and moved Maui Pasta from Hawaii to Scottsdale.

At their new location at The Shops at Gainey Ranch, the couple has opened a pasta shop and a restaurant doing both dine-in and takeout. They serve fresh pastas, sauces, baked goods, panini, award-winning dips, and homemade desserts.

They make their own ricotta and mascarpone cheeses, and offer “Family Meals” – fresh, hot and healthy dinners for four or six that customers can order by phone and take home to their families. Their pride is that their food is always fresh, with no added preservatives.

Maui Pasta at the Shops at Gainey Ranch offers specialty coffee drinks and freshly baked Italian confections, and remains open through lunch and dinner. They also offer catering, Italian wines, local beer, and cocktails.
