PEORIA, AZ (Pay It Forward) -- We traveled to Peoria this week to Pay It Forward to Sandy Archer, a woman who does everything she can to help those in need.

“She devotes her whole life to feeding and buying things for the homeless for the last 20 years,” said Archer’s friend, Linda Huntington. “Her house is full of things, and every weekend, she makes burritos for them, and dishes out sunglasses and socks. I am very proud to be her friend.”

Because of all Archer does for her community, Huntington wanted to Pay It Forward to her. So, we gathered Archer’s gift card and went to surprise her.

“Sandy, this is from Timmy and I (sic),” Huntington said as she handed her friend a flower bouquet. “But this is a $500 gift card for you to help buy all the stuff you do every day,” Huntington told Archer.

“I have seen this before, and everyone is crying,” a surprised Archer said as the camera recorded.

“You deserve this more than anyone I know,” Huntington told her with a hug.

Archer said she collects everything she can from her friends. What she can’t find, however, she buys using her own money. She has a garage full of sunglasses, Bibles, socks, shoes, blankets, anything someone experiencing homelessness might need.

“You just see people that … you know it could be you down there -- so easily,” Archer said. “Just any little thing you can do would make it easier on them. They have had a pretty rough life.”

Archer’s mentality and actions are what make her a treasure to our community.
