The Ak-Chin Indian Community is pleased to announce Tim Costello as airport manager at Ak-Chin Regional Airport. In his role, he is in charge of day-to-day operations, airport planning, and development and implementation of significant capital plans and project upgrades to the one runway airport.

He previously held a position with Cottonwood Airport in Northern Arizona before relocating to manage the Ak-Chin Regional Airport. He brings four years of experience planning and delivering airport improvement projects, successful airport and general aviation services and understanding of safety aviation to his new role.

“I'm delighted to be here at a time when the airport is getting ready to take-off,” said Costello. “The Community hopes to define the airport’s role in the national airport system and make improvements to achieve that role in an efficient and cost effective manner.”

The Ak-Chin Regional Airport, owned and operated Ak-Chin Indian Community, generates the majority of its traffic from aviation training and visiting aircraft. The airfield is home to 12 general aviation, fixed-wing aircraft made by U.S. manufacturers like Cessna, Piper, Beechcraft, Mooney and others.

Costello received his degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Clarkson University in Potsdam, New York.

He is a Maricopa resident.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale received three national awards at the Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s 107th National Conference recently held in Orlando, Fla. The organization received $8,000 in awards from MetLife Foundation, sponsor of the annual recognition program, which honors local Clubs for innovative, effective programming leading youth to great futures.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale was awarded the following:
•	2013 Honor Award, Generations Program at the Virginia G. Piper Branch, Character & Leadership Development category. This multigenerational program combines 20 youth with senior citizens to develop an appreciation and understanding of adults over the age of sixty. Youth learn about courtesy, disabilities and health issues facing the aging population with the belief that by forming bonds it is unlikely youth will exploit or take advantage of their elders.
•	2013 Gold Award, Tax Credit Fundraising Campaign created and implemented by the Marketing Department, Initiatives & Special Events category. This campaign, centered on Club member story-telling, used cause-related marketing, social media and internal and external campaigns to raise over $100,000 for the organization through a dollar-for-dollar tax credit.
•	2013 Merit Award, Primal Education Program at the Rose Lane Branch, Fitness & Recreation category. In partnership with Amen Zone, this program’s goal is to increase the self-esteem of youth and teens by giving them the tools to lead healthier lives and make educated lifestyle choices through fitness activities and nutrition education

“We are proud of our dedicated, talented team and are happy to see them gain the recognition they justly deserve,” said Steve Davidson, President/CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale. “Each program and/or initiative has been instrumental in helping our organization continue to reach its goal of providing quality programs that help today’s youth.”

Out of nearly 4,000 Clubs worldwide, honor and gold awards are the highest level of recognition given by Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Awards recognize a program that most effectively empowers youth to support and influence their Club and community, sustain meaningful relationships with others, and develop a positive self-image.
