Local youth, for an Eagle Scout Project, is leading a campaign collecting used shoes. This shoe drive has been going on during the month of February. Jared has arranged donation boxes in over 40 locations in the East Valley. 17 of those locations are all the Mesa Fire Stations. This is his FINAL week for collection. ACT NOW AND DONATED SHOES TO A MESA FIRE STATION.
He has partnered with Soles4Souls to bring the Haitian survivors any and all pairs of gently used or even new shoes to help in the rescue and rebuilding efforts amidst broken glass, twisted metal and raw sewage.
He saw the devastation in Haiti and wanted to find a way he could help. President Obama has requested we donate much needed money but during these hard economic times that is hard to do. Jared said "What made me so excited about this used shoe drive is that this is a way that WE, everyone (even the youth and young children) can give action to our prayers and desire to help. We may not all be able to give money, but many of us have extra or outgrown shoes. We can give of some of our own personal surplus and that will directly help the people in Haiti."
Soles4Souls is a Nashville-based charity. Since 2005, they have distributed over 7 million pairs of shoes around the world. Their slogan is “Changing the world – one pair at a time”. They have pledged one million pairs of shoes to be distributed to Haitians during a sustained giving plan in coordination with other agencies.
In March, Jared Curtis will be collecting, counting and delivering the shoes to the soles4souls warehouse in Las Vegas Nevada.
Working together we all can help the Haitian people!
