Phoenix resident and Arizona Connections Academy 9th-grader Jake McCann was pleased to join his classmates recently at the Devonshire Senior Center in Phoenix, where the students volunteered their time helping educate seniors about technology and computers. This is one of the many projects McCann and his classmates participate in to support the “Connections Cares” attitude that plays a big part in the school's overall philosophy. Previous Connections Cares student community projects include: a Valentine's Day project where students made and donated stuffed bears from Stuffington Bear Factory to Phoenix police officers, who use the bears to comfort frightened children; and tree planting for Earth Day. Arizona Connections Academy Teachers have also volunteered their time to Connections Cares projects, most recently as phone bank operators for Phoenix Children’s Hospital and Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation radiothons.
