The Rothstein Law Firm was recently appointed Special Prosecutor for the Navajo Nation and appeared at a hearing today in the Window Rock District Court before Judge Carol Perry on the status of the financial records of the Navajo Nation housed in Administration Building Number 1. The Special Prosecutor shares the Court’s concern that all of the Nation’s financial records be protected from destruction. The Special Prosecutor is fully cooperating with the Court and the Navajo Nation to ensure that all documents are maintained and protected.
The Rothstein Law Firm has begun its duties as Special Prosecutor for the Navajo Nation. We intend to have possession of all the files of the Special Prosecutor within the next several days. The case filed in the Window Rock District Court is under a stay until November 7, 2011. Until we have completed our initial review of these materials, we do not plan to discuss the details of the complaint or suggest any particular course of action that we may take. We will work expediently and diligently on a full review of the files. For now, it would not be appropriate for us to comment any further.
