Snowy With a Chance of WeatherBug

Village Meadows Elementary is a Title I school at 2020 W. Morningside Drive, Phoenix, AZ 85023. To integrate technology into science standards and build students’ curiosity and understanding of weather conditions that affect their lives we are submitting our entry into the Junior Forecaster Weather contest. Another more practical reason for entering this contest is that fact that many of our students come from homes in which their parents are not around when they get ready and leave for school. Having a WeatherBug at Village Meadows would enable us to include weather information that directly affects their lives on our daily video announcements. Students could then go home with a current weather forecast that they could use to help prepare themselves for the next school day.
While staff members video tapped the weather forecast a group of 6th grade science students, gave up their lunch recesses for three weeks, took what they learned from a unit covering weather and water, brainstormed ideas and wrote the skit entirely on their own. Those same students are the ones you will see on the video. We hope you enjoy watching our snowy weather forecast in Phoenix, Arizona. It was quite a coincidence that it actually snowed while we were preparing this forecast!
