January 27th, up for a brief stay at a cabin in Munds Park, we never expected the surprise snow that almost caught us off gaurd. Just the day before it was a beautiful, clear, sunny day in Flagstaff; a perfect day for sledding.
We heard about the coming storm, but it just seem impossible to fathom a storm that would dump so much snow in such a short period of time. By the time I went to bed at 10pm, on the 28th, it was still a clear night and the stars were clearly visible. I confess I had my doubts about any such storm.
We woke up to a light snow and the kids were delighted to play in it. By mid-morning it began to pick up and by noon that day it truly began to let lose. Needless to say, we barely escaped being snowed in that day and was grateful to get back to the valley (normally a 2 1/2 hour trip)after a 7 1/2 hour trip home to Mesa, AZ.
