We were riding our bikes along the AZ Canal today when we witnessed an act of heroism. Danny Speros, a stranger to us and to a little dog in distress, jumped into the AZ Canal (which is dirty and freezing) to rescue a little dog who was running into traffic and had been running for quite a while along the canal. She would not come to any of us when we called her and tried to get her into a safe area. She was running for almost a mile when she jumped into the canal. My husband and I tried to help but before we could call anyone, Danny had jumped in and saved the little female who had no collar and was scared to death. I tried to hold her so Danny could get his shoes on, but she tried to bite me and would not leave his arms. He volunteered to walk her all the way back to his house and drive her to the Humane Society. We are all hoping she has a microchip. There are really nice people in this world and Danny, you are one of them. All we know is Danny's name but we want to thank him so much for his compassion and rescue of this unknown dog...hopefully someone will recognize her and claim her at the Humane Society on Hatcher and 13th Ave.
This wonderful man jumped into the AZ Canal today to save a little dog who was lost and had jumped into the canal. We were riding our bikes by and witnessed his heroism. His name is Danny Speros.
