UPDATE JULY 16:

GLENDALE -- Glendale police detectives have made an arrest in the case of a shooting that took place in the 4300 block of West Rose Lane Sunday afternoon.

John Bacon, 37, was arrested at about noon on Tuesday in the lobby of a hotel where he was staying.

According to investigators, as James Traver, 24, was driving away from a house on Rose Lane, Bacon emerged from the house and fired a handgun several times at Traver, striking him once in the head. Traver then crashed into the trees.

Detectives learned that Bacon might be staying at the Premier Inn on Black Canyon Highway and conducted a surveillance on the hotel, according to Glendale police Sgt. Jim Toomey. They took Bacon into custody in the lobby when he came down to pay his bill.

Toomey said Bacon claimed to have a medical condition and was taken to a local hospital. Upon his release, he will be booked on one count of aggravated assault.

Toomey said the motive for the crime is unknown at this time.

Traver remains in critical condition at a local trauma center.
