AJO, AZ -- The driver of a vehicle was ejected and killed on State Route 85 after border patrol agents tried to stop the suspected smuggling vehicle.

According to the Tucson Border Patrol Office, agents tried to stop a suspected smuggling vehicle on SR 85 when the passenger was thrown from the vehicle. The driver then attempted to swerve around a tire deflation device that was further up the roadway.

He was ejected in the maneuver and died while in flight to the hospital. Agents recovered 15 bundles of marijuana that were inside the vehicle.
